The Darkon is already freakishly fabulous

I believe this little beauty is named Maya

The "bird and flower" motif has been a classic for thousands of years

The big little guys run around with worms but sometimes have trouble swallowing them.
Four weeks old and cute as a button. Ummm, maybe not. As you can see the chicks have entered their awkward teenage stage. But they are young teens…maybe the equivalent of a 9th grader. You know lanky, uncoordinated, feathers all askew, and curious. These photos are from their first day out in the sun. We had spectacular weather at Lucky Cluck for a full day and the chicks wasted no time in eating grass and big fat earthworms (especially the Orpingtons). They also experienced their first dust bath. It amazes me how instinctual this behavior is for chickens. And they saw their first BIG chicken and fat ass (also know as Aspen our labrador). Their day ended with visitors Khem and Amanda. Sleeping tonight should come easy for these pullets and cockerels.
